Rome, 11 May (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner has reached the last 16 of the Internazionali. It was plain sailing against Australia’s Alexei Popryn, whom he defeated in two sets 6-2, 6-0 in one hour and six minutes. Sinner, on his thirteenth consecutive clay-court victory, will face Italy’s Andrea Pellegrino in the quarter-finals, after Pellegrino beat the American Frances Tiafoe in the round of 32. The world number one joins Novak Djokovic as the only player to have won his first 25 ATP Masters 1000 matches of the season, after the Serb achieved this feat in 2011 (31) and 2015 (25). This is his 30th consecutive victory at ATP Masters 1000 level, equalling the second-longest winning streak in the history of the series.
