Rome, 23 May (LaPresse) – The Turin derby is heating up, with the match proving decisive for Juventus’s remaining chances of qualifying for the Champions League. In an email sent to those who have purchased tickets for the Distinti and Curva Primavera stands – as reported by Tuttosport – the Granata club explained that those sections “are strictly reserved for Torino fans and neutral supporters. For obvious security reasons and to avoid tension, access will not be permitted to anyone wearing shirts, scarves or other symbols of the visiting team”. Juve’s response was swift, issued via an official statement. “Juventus Football Club expresses strong concern regarding the communication released by Torino FC concerning access to the Distinti stand for the upcoming match,” it reads. “Whilst understanding and agreeing with the absolute priority of safety within sports facilities, Juventus notes that these provisions are not supported by any instructions received by the club from the relevant authorities. Football, and in particular a match with such strong symbolic and local significance as the derby, must represent a moment of open sporting competition, in which every fan can express their passion whilst respecting the rules and others. Juventus therefore trusts that, including through institutional dialogue with the relevant authorities, a balance can be struck between public order requirements and the fans’ right to attend the sporting event freely and responsibly. The club reaffirms its ongoing commitment to promoting the values of respect, inclusion and fairness, both on and off the pitch."
