Milan, 6 June (LaPresse) – ‘I have great respect for those working at Juve today, and I’m well aware that depending on your position, you see things differently.’ So said Alessandro Del Piero, speaking at the Serie A Festival in Parma, without giving anything away about his possible future as a director at Juve. “I won’t give you tomorrow’s headline,” he added jokingly to Tuttosport editor Guido Vaciago, who was interviewing him. “What would I say to the players today? In my current role, I have to be responsible for what I say and don’t say, but I don’t feel in a position to tell them what to do. It’s a decidedly complicated time, but we must also emphasise the positive aspects of this league, which was fought right down to the final matchday,” he said. “Things happen, but you have to have the strength to turn the page,” he declared. “The expectations placed on me are never a burden; they are certainly a responsibility. The affection I still receive from the fans today is a bond forged over the journey we’ve taken over these 19 years, through the victories and the choices made,” Del Piero added, before concluding, with reference to the club’s owners: “The relationship with the Agnelli family has had its ups and downs, but it has always been honest and open; what the owners have achieved is something incredible. They have always been there, even in difficult times, guiding the team to great triumphs, and they are the only ones who have always remained.”
