Rome, 29 Dec (LaPresse) – ‘The Egyptian Environment Ministry has received reports that two foreigners were attacked by a shark in deep water outside the bathing area in the Marsa Alam area, resulting in the injury of one of them and the death of the other, and were admitted to Porto Ghalib hospital’. This is according to a statement issued by the Egyptian ministry. According to diplomatic sources, the two tourists are Italian. The Egyptian ministry's note emphasises that ‘the handling of the incident is part of the urgent measures of the Ministry of the Environment in cooperation with the Red Sea Governorate, which includes the closure of the area and a ban on bathing from the area of the scaffolding for two days starting tomorrow’.
