Berlin, Jan. 1 (LaPresse) – Five people have died in Germany due to fireworks-related accidents on New Year's Eve, according to various German newspapers. On the outskirts of Geseke, in North Rhine-Westphalia, a 24-year-old died from the explosion of a firecracker. Two deaths occurred in Saxony: a 45-year-old man in Oschatz, east of Leipzig, and a 50-year-old man in Chemnitz, both handling fireworks. In Hamburg, a 20-year-old man died from a firecracker explosion in the Ochsenwerder district. Another person died in the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg. In Havelsee-Fohrde, near the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, a person is in critical condition due to injuries caused by a fireworks explosion.
