Madrid (Spain), January 3 (LaPresse) – A Spanish tourist has died after being attacked by an elephant while bathing it in Thailand. The news, initially reported by Efe, was later confirmed by other Spanish media outlets. According to the local newspaper Tribuna Valladolid, the tourist was a 22-year-old woman, Blanca Ojanguren García, originally from Valladolid. She was in Asia, specifically in Taiwan, on an Erasmus scholarship and was studying Law and International Relations at the University of Navarra.
The young woman had traveled to Thailand for a trip. While bathing the elephant, she walked in front of it, and the animal struck her with its tusk, causing fatal injuries. Washing or bathing elephants are popular activities at certain resorts in Thailand.
