Rome, Jan. 15 (LaPresse) – "We are working with discretion and responsibility; noise does not help solve problems. However, we have requested all guarantees through our Secretary General in charge of affairs with Venezuela, and we have also requested a consular visit. We continue to move forward, always trying to help our fellow citizens, as we have done with everyone." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the presentation of the book "Linea segreta – I retroscena tra Stato e Vaticano" this afternoon in Rome, regarding Italian aid worker Alberto Trentini, who has been detained by Venezuelan authorities since last November.
When asked whether this could be a "possible retaliation for Italy's opposition to President Maduro," Tajani said: "Now is not the time for polemics. We are working to resolve the issue."
