US, Democratic prosecutors appeal against Ius Soli stop

Washington (U.S.), Jan. 21 (LaPresse) – Eighteen attorneys general of states and cities governed by Democrats have appealed against the stop to Ius Soli contained in one of the executive orders signed Monday by Donald Trump. The appeal argues that the president's executive order violates the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, which guarantees the constitutional right to citizenship to all citizens born in the United States. “Despite the President's broad powers to set immigration policy, however, the order revoking citizenship is largely outside the legal limits of the President's authority,” the appeal states.
