Rome, 26 Jan (LaPresse) – The current president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has won the presidential election with 87.6% of the vote. This was reported by Tass citing local exit polls. Liberal Democratic Party chairman Oleg Gaidukevich got 1.8% of the vote, businesswoman Anna Kanopatskaya 1.6%, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Sergei Syrankov 2.7%, and Republican Labour Party chairman and judge Alexander Khizhnyak, 1.2%. The turnout in the presidential election at 6pm local time was 81.5%, reported Central Election Commission secretary Elena Baldovskaya.
