Middle East: International conference in New York in June

Milan, Feb 5 (LaPresse) – An international conference on the Middle East is scheduled to take place in New York in June 2025. This was stated by the Palestinian ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, in an interview with the Russian news agency Tass.

"As for the conference, it will be held in June in New York," he said, "not only to stop the war (in Gaza, ed.) but to stop the war in general. This should be based on a two-state agreement. Many countries support this idea, including Russia."

"We hope that all countries, including the United States, Russia, China, and European nations, will be able to find common ground. There is a lot to do in Gaza," Nofal added. "First, stop the war. Second, open the borders to help people live and eat."

"The most important issue is that the Palestinian Authority must return to Gaza," he stated. "This is the only option that would stop the war in Gaza."

Regarding reconstruction, the Palestinian diplomat estimated that "at least 80 billion dollars" would be needed.
