Milan, February 10 (LaPresse) – A bus plunged into a ravine on the route from the Atlántida district of Guatemala City to the Buganvilias cemetery, leaving over 50 dead.

At least 49 people were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others died after being transported to the hospital. Several others were injured.

The vehicle fell into the river running beneath the Belize Bridge. Firefighters reported rescuing four passengers who had been trapped, while others are believed to have drowned when the bus fell into the water.

The driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, causing it to crash. According to initial reports, the bus had collided with a car, which sustained severe damage.
