El Paso (USA), Feb 12 (LaPresse) – A fire broke out at a transportation center near El Paso International Airport, Texas, injuring five people and sending a large column of black smoke over the city on the US-Mexico border.

It is unclear what caused the fire at the Sun Metro Bicentennial Council Transit Operations Center. More than 100 firefighters responded to the blaze, according to El Paso Fire Chief Robert Arvizu. The number of people inside the building at the time remains uncertain, as its walls and roof collapsed.

Despite the fire, flights at El Paso International Airport were not disrupted, said city spokesperson Laura Cruz Acosta.
