Washington (United States), 20 Feb. (LaPresse/AP) – US President Donald Trump has said he is considering buying used planes to find an alternative for Air Force One, given Boeing's three-year delay in delivering new aircraft. President Trump is considering the possibility of buying used Boeing planes – perhaps from a foreign seller – to be used as Air Force One, in light of the US manufacturer's delays in producing two aircraft specially modified for presidential use. Speaking to reporters on board one of the two nearly 35-year-old Boeing 747-200s currently in use, Trump said: ‘We're looking at alternatives, because Boeing is taking too long.’ ‘We could buy a plane,’ Trump said, adding that he could then ‘convert it.’ He later clarified that he would rule out buying aircraft from Airbus, the European company that is the world's only other supplier of large wide-body aircraft, but would consider a second-hand Boeing plane. ‘I would not consider Airbus. I might buy one from another country.’
