Milan, Feb. 22 (LaPresse) – "We have said many times, even before October 7, 2023, that we are willing to immediately step down from governing the Gaza Strip and allow any Palestinian unity government, a technocratic government, or any alternative decided by the Palestinians within Palestinian consensus," stated Basem Naim, a member of Hamas' political bureau, as reported by Al Jazeera. The official added that Hamas was founded as a Palestinian national resistance movement with clear objectives, including "getting rid of the occupation, achieving true Palestinian national goals of statehood, self-determination, and the right of return." "We will continue our struggle alongside all other factions and our people to achieve these goals by all means, including political and diplomatic efforts as well as armed resistance," Naim concluded. "However, for managing Palestinians' daily lives, such as health, education, and social affairs, we are ready to let a consensus-based solution take over."
