Frankfurt (Germany), 25 Feb. (LaPresse) – CDU leader and chancellor-in-waiting Friedrich Merz said he believes it will soon be possible to negotiate a ‘good’ coalition agreement with the SPD and to have a new government ‘within a reasonable time’, most likely ‘by Easter’. After a meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, among others, Merz explained that he could not ‘say anything about the content of today's talks’ because it is still too early. Merz and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soeder, leader of the CSU, are leading the negotiations on the Union side. The aim is to ‘rapidly’ start in-depth discussions and to focus mainly on foreign and security policy, migration and the economy.
