Milan, March 1 (LaPresse) – Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban has sent a letter to European Council President Antonio Costa ahead of the extraordinary European Council meeting scheduled for March 6. ‘It has become clear that there are strategic differences in our approach to Ukraine that cannot be overcome through drafting or communication,’ Orban wrote, ’I am convinced that the European Union, following the example of the United States, should start direct talks with Russia on a ceasefire and sustainable peace in Ukraine.’ The Hungarian premier also urged EU leaders to avoid adopting a joint statement on Ukraine during the 6 March summit in Brussels.
