Naples, March 3 (LaPresse) – The LuGRE satellite receiver has communicated from the Moon, receiving signals from the Earth’s GNSS navigation system. This was announced by the Italian Space Agency. The Italian receiver was successfully turned on today, Monday, March 3, at 7:10 AM Italian time. LuGRE (Lunar GNSS Receiver Experiment) is a joint mission of the Italian Space Agency and NASA, developed in Italy by Qascom, with scientific support from the Polytechnic University of Turin. The innovative receiver is designed to test the use of GNSS signals in deep space, a crucial step for lunar and interplanetary navigation. LuGRE reached the Moon yesterday morning at 9:34 AM Italian time aboard the Blue Ghost lander by Firefly Aerospace.
