Milan, 03 Mar (LaPresse) – ‘We witnessed that horrendous thing on television’. So said life senator Liliana Segre during her speech at the conference ‘Le Vittime dell'Odio al Memoriale Shoah’, organised by the Observatory for Security Against Discriminatory Acts, at the Shoah Memorial in Milan, regarding the meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. ‘I have always had great gratitude for the Americans because, when we were liberated, the first thought was to create small field hospitals, no one asked for anything and was treated with a generosity of purpose, brotherly. This sense of gratitude to this wonderful world has remained with me all my life, then suddenly the other day on TV I was horrified by what I was seeing. The invaded becomes the invader. A reversal that had already been taking place since the election of the president. As the victim of hatred that I have been and still am, I am even more hurt now that America is collapsing. I don't want it to collapse, I want there to still be generous, smiling, happy Americans and I don't forget the cemeteries along the Gothic Line of Americans who died to free us,' the life senator concluded.
