Brussels, 6 March (LaPresse) – ‘I took the liberty of pointing out that the concept of defence in Europe is a little broader than the word rearmament. I think the word rearmament is not the right word to talk about what we are doing. The concept of security and the concept of defence today is a concept that covers many domains and the daily lives of citizens. Therefore, not simply being equipped with adequate weapons, which is certainly an issue, but it concerns the issue of raw materials, the issue of cybersecurity, the issue of critical infrastructure, it concerns so many domains that we also have to deal with on a daily basis and therefore perhaps we are giving out messages that are not very clear to citizens and therefore we need to clarify together what we are doing'. So says Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who today attended the extraordinary Council meeting in Brussels.
