Rome, March 17 (LaPresse) – The two American astronauts stranded for over nine months on the International Space Station will return to Earth tomorrow evening, Tuesday, March 18. In a statement, NASA said that Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will be brought home along with another American astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. The stranded duo has been on the ISS since June after the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they were testing during its inaugural crewed mission experienced propulsion issues and was deemed unfit to bring them back to Earth. NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will also return on the Dragon capsule. For Wilmore and Williams, this will mark the end of an ordeal that saw them stuck for nine months after what was supposed to be a short round-trip journey.
