Rome, Mar 18 (LaPresse) – The state visit planned by King Charles and Queen Camilla to the Vatican, during which a meeting is also scheduled with Pope Francis, will take place despite the Pontiff's continuing poor health. This was reported by the British media citing Buckingham Palace. Describing the details of the planned meeting, a Royal Palace spokesperson said that ‘on Tuesday 8 April, clearly subject to Pope Francis’ health, Their Majesties will visit the Holy See to join' the Pontiff “in celebrating the Jubilee of 2025”. A Buckingham Palace source – quoted by Sky News – said the royals expressed their ‘hopes and prayers that Pope Francis’ health would allow the visit to take place', although changes would be made to the visit if necessary. Buckingham Palace also confirmed that King Charles has written privately to the pontiff since he was hospitalised in February. The Royal Household's Instagram profile states that the King and Queen, among other things, will ‘have an audience with the Pope’ during the visit.
