Ankara, March 21 (LaPresse) – Ozgur Ozel, president of the Republican People's Party (CHP), to which the arrested Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu belongs, has made a new appeal for people to gather and protest. "I call on tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions of people to peacefully protest, express our democratic reaction, and exercise our constitutional rights," he said. "To those who say that calling people to the streets is irresponsible, I say this: it is not us filling these streets and squares. It is your illegality and your injustices that have brought the people to the streets." The CHP also urged citizens to participate in a symbolic election on Sunday, with ballot boxes set up across Turkey, to show solidarity with Imamoglu.
