Ukraine, Macron: ‘From willing not unanimous to revocation of sanctions on Russia’

Paris (France), 27 Mar. (LaPresse) – ’As far as short-term support for Ukraine is concerned, we have also unanimously recognised that the time has not yet come to lift the sanctions, whatever they may be. It would only be a question of a policy of lifting sanctions before peace is truly established. We therefore intend to maintain economic pressure, especially on this point’. This was stated by the French President, Emmanuel Macron, at the press conference at the end of the peace and security summit for Ukraine in Paris. ‘Then we discussed the preparation and monitoring of the ceasefire, which is, in essence, the second key element after short-term support for the Ukrainian army,’ he continued. ’In this regard, as you know, we are preparing to implement the Ukrainian-American proposal for a ceasefire in the air, at sea and on civilian infrastructure. In this regard it is important to be able to monitor the situation. It is obvious that it will be necessary to assign responsibilities to the OSCE’, the head of the Elysée Palace explained.
