Turin, Mar 28 (LaPresse) – Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has declared a state of emergency for the capital, Bangkok, following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in central Myanmar that struck the country. Local media report this. Shinawatra, who cut short a visit to Phuket to return to Bangkok and convene an emergency meeting to assess the quake’s impact, advised residents of high-rise buildings to avoid using elevators and to stay in open spaces. “All relevant ministries have been activated,” he said. “We urge the public to remain calm but alert. Schools have been closed early for the safety of students. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”
