Strasbourg (France), 1 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘Cohesion policy has nothing to do with arms purchases. Defence is in the five (new) priorities. I have been to several Member States and it depends on the countries and their needs which priorities to use and we give the opportunity to adapt the programmes to the needs’. This was stated by the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Raffaele Fitto, during a press conference presenting the cohesion reform. ‘The programmes remain the same. We are giving a priority, each programme manager decides if they want to or can use the opportunity we are putting on the table’, he explains. “The choice is a voluntary one. Member states can decide if they want to use these resources for this”, he reiterates.
