Madrid (Spain), 3 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘The US administration has decided to unilaterally attack’ its relationship with the EU ‘by deploying an unprecedented package of tariffs’. This was stated by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at a meeting at the Moncloa with representatives of Spanish industry. According to the socialist leader, President Donald Trump's decision is not only ‘contrary to the interests of companies and citizens’ including in the USA, but is also ‘contrary to the truth’. ‘It is not true that the EU applies tariffs of 39% to the USA’, ‘Europe applies tariffs of 3% depending on the case’ and ‘it is not true that the trade relationship is unbalanced’, the duties are therefore ‘not reciprocal’, said Sanchez, this ‘is just an excuse to punish countries, apply sterile protectionism and raise money to try to mitigate the deficit that is causing a fiscal policy that in my opinion is questionable’, concluded the prime minister.
