Milano, April 3 (LaPresse) – French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the "brutal and unfounded" decision by Donald Trump to increase customs duties on products imported into the United States. It is "a shock to international trade," Macron said during a meeting at the Élysée with representatives from exporting industries and employers. "We do not correct trade deficits by imposing tariffs," he added, acknowledging that these increases will have "a huge impact" on the European economy.
