Rome, 5 Apr. (LaPresse) – French President Emmanuel Macron could become Europe's point of contact for possible talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on peace in Ukraine. This was reported by the Telegraph, explaining that some members of the ‘coalition of the willing’ insist that a European leader lead the process of engagement with Russia as part of the efforts to support Kiev. The French president and the British prime minister Keir Starmer, who are leading a group of countries that are planning to reach a ceasefire agreement in Ukraine, have reportedly been indicated as the most likely interlocutors for Moscow. However, according to the Telegraph, Starmer has no intention of holding talks with Putin as part of the UK's efforts to support Ukraine's defence. According to a source at the Elysée, Macron could take on this role ‘when the time is right’.
