Hong Kong, Apr 16 (LaPresse/AP) – Hong Kong Post will stop shipping small parcels to the United States after Washington announced plans to levy customs duties on small value parcels from the southern Chinese city. A government statement said Hong Kong Post will not collect duties on behalf of Washington and will suspend accepting non-air parcels containing goods destined for the United States starting today, as items shipped by sea take longer. It will accept air parcels until 27 April. ‘For sending items to the United States, the Hong Kong public should be prepared to pay exorbitant and unreasonable rates due to the unreasonable and bullying acts of the United States,’ the government added. Instead, it will continue to accept mail that only contains documents.
