Pope, Guterres: ‘The world will be a better place if we follow his example’

Milan, 21 April (LaPresse/AP) – ’Our divided and discordant world will be a much better place if we follow his example of unity and mutual understanding in our actions.’ This was stated by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a statement remembering Pope Francis, who died this morning. Guterres recalled that Bergoglio said: ‘The future of humanity is not exclusively in the hands of politicians, great leaders, big companies, but is above all in the hands of those who recognise the other as a “you” and themselves as part of a “we”.’
