India: Visas revoked for Pakistani citizens after Kashmir attack

Srinagar (India), Apr 24 (LaPresse/AP) – As tensions remain high between India and Pakistan following the attack on tourists in Kashmir – a disputed region between the two countries for years – on Tuesday in which 26 people died, New Delhi is launching a diplomatic offensive against Islamabad, accusing it of being responsible. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Indian Foreign Ministry said that all visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be revoked as of Sunday, and also advised Indian citizens not to travel to Pakistan. Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Misri announced last night that some Pakistani diplomats had been asked to leave New Delhi and that some Indian diplomats had been recalled from Pakistan. Diplomatic missions in both countries will reduce their staff from 55 to 30 as of 1 May and the only functioning land border crossing between the two countries will be closed.
