He had great confidence in sending us here to further strengthen the ties between our countries. And I thank President Mattarella for welcoming us so warmly. What an extraordinary president we have here in Italy. I look forward to continuing to work with him," said the new U.S. Ambassador to Rome, Tilman J. Fertitta, in a video message posted on X.
