Pakistan fire on Indian side of Kashmir, death toll rises to 13

Milan, May 8 (LaPresse) – The death toll from Pakistani fire on the Indian side of Kashmir has risen to 13 civilians, with 59 injured. This was reported by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, specifying that all casualties occurred in the Poonch district, near the border between the two countries, and were caused by fire along the so-called Line of Control, the de facto border dividing the disputed region of Kashmir between India and Pakistan. Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since 1949 and is claimed in its entirety by both countries. Tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations are at their highest level since 2019, when the two sides came close to war following a suicide bombing in Kashmir.
