Netanyahu's office: ‘Hostage release does not mean truce’

Rome, 12 May (LaPresse) – ‘These are critical days, in which Hamas is facing an agreement that would allow the release of our hostages. Negotiations will continue under pressure and amid preparations for intensified fighting.’ This was stated by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement following the announcement of the release of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander. The Prime Minister's office clarified that no promises of a ceasefire or the release of Palestinian prisoners were made in exchange for the hostage's release. ‘The planned release of Israeli soldier Edan Alexander’ by Hamas will take place ‘without obtaining anything in return, thanks to the determined policy we have pursued, with the support’ of US President Donald Trump, and thanks to the military pressure of Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by The Times of Israel.
