Paris, May 13 (LaPresse/AP) – The Paris court has found actor Gérard Depardieu guilty of sexually assaulting two women on a film set in 2021, sentencing him to 18 months in prison, suspended.
The 76-year-old actor was convicted of groping a 54-year-old costume designer and a 34-year-old assistant during the filming of Les Volets Verts.
The case has been widely seen as a key test for post-#MeToo France, shedding light on how the country’s society and film industry handle sexual misconduct allegations involving high-profile figures.
Depardieu has denied the charges.
