Frankfurt (Germany), May 14 (LaPresse) – "In this country, we need to work more and, above all, more efficiently," said German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during his speech at the CDU Economic Council, as reported by Bild. "With a four-day workweek and a focus on work-life balance, we will not be able to maintain the prosperity of this country," Merz stated, emphasizing that the inclusion of the 40-hour workweek in the labor law was agreed upon in the coalition agreement with the SPD. This initiative now needs to be implemented "fairly soon," the Chancellor explained. He also described the fact that he and his 17 federal ministers have little government experience as a "great opportunity to truly change something in this country."
