Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), May 14 (LaPresse/AP) – U.S. President Donald Trump has met with Syria's interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa. This is the first meeting between leaders of the two nations in 25 years and marks a significant turning point for Syria, which is still struggling through a difficult transition after over 50 years of authoritarian rule by the Assad family. Trump had announced the meeting on Tuesday, also stating that the United States would proceed with lifting economic sanctions against Syria.
