Rome, May 17 (LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the death of nine civilians in a Russian attack on a bus in the Sumy region, stating that Russia "continues to kill" and that "tougher sanctions" against Moscow are necessary.
"Yesterday, as on every other day of this war, there was a chance to reach a ceasefire. Ukraine has been offering this for a long time: a complete and unconditional ceasefire to save lives. Russia has nothing but the capacity to keep killing. Pressure must be applied on Russia to stop the killing. Without tougher sanctions, without stronger pressure, Russia will not seek real diplomacy," Zelensky wrote on X.
"We expect tough sanctions against Russia from the United States, Europe, and all our partners. Diplomacy must start working," he added.
