Rome, May 18 (LaPresse) – According to exit polls released by Polish television, the liberal mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, is leading with 30.8% in the first round of the presidential elections, ahead of the national-conservative Karol Nawrocki, who is projected to receive 29.1%. Far-right leader Slawomir Mentzen ranks third with 15.4%. The BBC reports that if these results hold, no candidate will have secured over 50% of the vote, meaning a runoff between Trzaskowski and Nawrocki would be held on June 1.
