Milan, May 20 (LaPresse) – "Following the United Kingdom's announcement to suspend free trade agreement negotiations with Israel and impose sanctions on settlers: even before today's announcement, the negotiations on the free trade agreement were not progressing at all under the current British government. Moreover, the agreement would have been beneficial for both countries," stated the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a note.
"If, due to anti-Israel obsession and domestic political considerations, the British government is willing to harm the British economy, that is its prerogative," the note continues. "Sanctions against residents of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank, ed.) are unjustified and deplorable, especially at a time when Israel mourns yet another victim of Palestinian terrorism, Tzeela Gez, who was murdered on her way to the delivery room. Doctors are still fighting in the hospital to save her newborn's life."
"The British Mandate ended exactly 77 years ago," the Ministry concludes, "external pressure will not deter Israel from its path of defending its existence and security against enemies seeking its destruction."
