Milan, May 26 (LaPresse) – “Uranium enrichment is an integral part of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and industry and must absolutely be preserved,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, as reported by Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
Baghaei added that the U.S. insistence on “zero enrichment” shows that the other side is not serious about the negotiation process.
Iran and the United States held the fifth round of talks on Tehran’s nuclear program on Friday in Rome. As in previous rounds, the negotiations were led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. President Donald Trump’s regional envoy, Steve Witkoff, with Oman acting as mediator. Baghaei noted that the date and location for the next round of talks have yet to be determined.
