Washington (DC, USA), 29 May (LaPresse) – Elon Musk is leaving his government role as President Donald Trump's top adviser after leading efforts to reduce and reform federal bureaucracy. ‘As my tenure as a special government employee is coming to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce waste,’ he wrote in a post on X, adding that ‘the DOGE mission will only grow stronger over time, becoming a way of life throughout the government.’ Despite the upheaval, the billionaire entrepreneur struggled to settle into the unfamiliar reality of Washington and achieved much less than he had hoped. He drastically reduced his spending cut target – from $2 trillion to $1 trillion and then to $150 billion – and expressed increasing frustration at resistance to his goals.
