Seoul (South Korea), June 5 (LaPresse) – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu that his country will "unconditionally support" Russia's war against Ukraine. This was reported by North Korean state media. It is the latest sign of growing cooperation between the two nations. Pyongyang "will unconditionally support Russia's position and its foreign policy on all crucial international political issues, including the Ukraine question," according to the official Korean Central News Agency. The Russian news agency Tass, citing the press office of the Russian Security Council, reported that Shoigu and Kim also discussed prospects for rebuilding the Kursk region and outlined measures to commemorate the contribution of North Korean soldiers. In April, the two countries officially confirmed for the first time the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia, stating that soldiers from both countries were fighting side by side to repel a Ukrainian incursion in the Russian border region of Kursk. At the time, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked North Korea for its participation in the war and promised not to forget their sacrifices.
