Milan, June 12 (LaPresse) – Israel is considering the possibility of launching military action against Iran in the coming days, most likely without the support of the United States. NBC News reports this, citing five people familiar with the situation. According to the account, Israel appears increasingly determined to carry out a unilateral strike on Iran. The news comes as negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program seem to be approaching a preliminary or framework agreement, which includes uranium enrichment provisions that Israel considers unacceptable, NBC writes. According to the outlet, U.S. and other foreign officials are on alert in anticipation of a possible Israeli attack. Meanwhile, CBS News, citing several sources, reports that Israel is ready to launch an operation against Iran. The U.S. anticipates that Tehran may respond by targeting some American sites in neighboring Iraq. This, CBS notes, is one of the reasons why the U.S. State Department has ordered the withdrawal of all non-essential personnel from the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.
