Washington, June 15 (LaPresse) – Massive marches took place across the United States as part of the protests nicknamed ‘No Kings’ against U.S. President Donald Trump. Thousands of people marched in Philadelphia, New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles, as well as in Atlanta and Portland, and in Mississippi and North Carolina. In Minnesota, organizers canceled the protest while police were searching for a suspect in the shootings in which Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, and Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife were injured. According to the organizers of the ‘No Kings’ protest, millions of people took to the streets nationwide, joining hundreds of initiatives. Trump, for his part, was in Washington for a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the Army, which coincided with his 79th birthday. Governors across the United States called for calm and promised zero tolerance for violence, with some mobilizing the National Guard. In the marches across the country, from big cities to small towns, protesters chanted slogans against the authoritarian shift of the Trump administration and in support of democracy and immigrants.
