Iran, Berlin: ‘Tehran must demonstrate its willingness to renounce nuclear weapons’

Milan, 16 June (LaPresse) – German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has called on Iran to demonstrate its clear willingness to renounce nuclear weapons. This would provide an opportunity to resolve the armed conflict between Israel and Iran and to start a phase of negotiations, Wadephul told Deutschlandfunk. Regarding statements by Iranian President Massoud Pezeschkian that his country has no intention of developing nuclear weapons, Wadephul said that Tehran must now prove this with actions. ‘Iran has been warned repeatedly,’ said Wadephul, who is currently in Oman. He also called on his Iranian counterpart to ‘negotiate seriously with us now’ on the nuclear programme.
