China is ready to play a constructive role in helping to ease the situation.’ This was stated by a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasising that ‘the sudden heating up of the region is not in anyone's interest.’ Beijing ‘is closely following Israel's attacks on Iran and is deeply concerned about the potential serious consequences of the operation,’ ‘opposes actions that violate Iran's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and opposes moves that aggravate tensions and amplify conflicts,’ the spokesperson added.
