Turin, 18 June (LaPresse) – “The battle has begun”. This is the threat issued by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. “Ali returns to Khaybar”, reads a post, according to a translation by Iran International. The statement refers to the first imam of Shia Islam and his conquest of the Jewish city of Khaybar in the 7th century. The post includes an image of a man with a sword entering a fortress-like gate, with fiery streaks in the sky above. The statement is Khamenei's first public message since Donald Trump called for Iran's unconditional surrender and said that the United States is postponing the killing of the Ayatollah “for now”.
