Turin, 22 June (LaPresse) – Iran's Supreme National Security Council will make the final decision on the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz, following approval by Parliament. This was reported by Iranian broadcaster Press TV, as reported by Al Arabiya. The decision to close the strait, through which about 20% of global oil and gas demand passes, is not yet final. The closure ‘is on the agenda and will be implemented when necessary,’ said parliamentarian and Revolutionary Guard commander Esmail Kosari. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi also spoke on the issue earlier. “We have a variety of options available,” he said, quoted by the BBC, in response to a question about whether Tehran was considering striking US military bases in the region or closing the strait.
