Dubai, 28 June (LaPresse/AP) – Thousands of mourners marched through the streets of central Tehran for the funerals of the head of the Revolutionary Guard and other senior commanders and nuclear scientists killed during a 12-day war with Israel. The coffins of the Guard's chief, Gen. Hossein Salami, the head of the Guard's ballistic missile programme, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, and others were carried on trucks along Azadi Street in the capital. These are the first public funerals of senior commanders since the ceasefire, and Iranian state television reported that they were held for a total of 60 people, including four women and four children. The authorities closed government offices to allow civil servants to attend the ceremonies.
